About us Our patron and trustees Jafar Mirza, OBE Jafar Mirza has spent nearly three decades building bridges between communities, institutions, and the people they too often fail to reach. Alongside a career in business, he has held leadership roles across healthcare, education, and community advocacy — becoming the first person of Asian heritage to chair a UK further education college board. He has served as Chairman of the Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum, as a Governor of Anglia Ruskin University and as Chairman of the University of the Third Age (u3aEly). He also draws on his own experience navigating complex persistent health conditions, which he shares through lectures with medical students of Cambridge University. As Chair of the Dementia Compass Advisory Board, Jafar brings his particular gift: the ability to bring very different people to the same table, and to build something lasting from what emerges.
