  • Our staff

Our staff

In 2023 we underwent an organisational restructure which created opportunities for staff to progress into roles with greater responsibility and enabled us to expand, welcoming several new faces as we recruited into vacant and new positions.

One of our more significant changes was to distribute the responsibilities of the previous Chief Executive Officer position between three Heads of departments, our leadership team, who report directly to our Board of Trustees.

The Operations Team

If you get in touch via our main CamSight contact details, you will likely speak to Rachel or Denise. Always there to answer your queries or to assist with anything CamSight can help you with. The Operations team also carry out a lot of work behind the scenes: making sure we are compliant, delivering our services safely and to the best of our abilities, and generally making sure everything goes to plan. We would be lost without them!

The Service Teams

Our services are delivered in a focused and coordinated way, falling under the supervision of our Service Managers, and delivered across the whole of Cambridgeshire (including Peterborough and Fenland). We constantly review how we can best support our community.

Find out more about what each department does or who the staff members are by clicking on the relevant team section title. This will take you to a new page.

Volunteering:

Our volunteering team play a really important role in organising our vital volunteers - without whom we simply couldn't offer the wide range of services and support that we do. This also includes keeping up to date with DBS checks, health and safety, policies and procedures, and providing training and ongoing support to our volunteers.

Support and Advice:

The Support & Advice service is free, one-to-one support provided to Service Users at home. Our team manage caseloads based on geographical area and work closely with other CamSight services and external multi-disciplinary organisations to deliver front-line support across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Equipment and Accessibility:

We offer one-to-one support to help people with sight loss find the right equipment and technology to help people live as independently as possible. Through home visits and our mobile unit, we assess needs and demonstrate items like magnifiers, lighting, and accessible devices, providing advice on how to use them effectively.

Emotional Support and Counselling:

CamSight's Emotional Support service offers confidential support and information to people who because of sight loss are experiencing emotional difficulties. We offer someone to listen, with the space and time to talk. Our Emotional Support Service is offered free of charge and available to anyone with sight loss living in Cambridgeshire. All of our sight loss counsellors are members of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, the UK registered body for counselling professions.

Fundraising and Communications:

Raising funds and raising awareness of what we do go hand in hand, and is crucial for a charity like ours. We rely on donations to deliver our services, and want to reach as many people as possible who may need our support. No day is the same in fundraising: blowing bubbles at a community fete, being interviewed by local press, or presenting a formal funding proposal to a grant funder - it's never boring!
