Here is a round up of what the Fundraising team (and others!) have been up to over the last couple of months:

World Sight Day:
10th October

A big thank you to Chesterton Primary School who went #BrightForSight to celebrate World Sight Day last week!
Pupils wore brightly coloured clothes on Thursday to promote this national awareness day and it was great to have a local school just around the corner getting involved!

Our fundraiser Ella had lots of fun meeting all the children and talking about the importance of eye-health and regular eye checks through the assembly with Tahmina.

Sew Knit Craft Donation!

Sew Knit Craft in Cambridge kindly donated two big bags of coloured yarn to help our Christmas crafting and teddy bear fundraiser!

Thanks to their donation we can provide volunteers with materials to make all sorts of knitted items for our Christmas markets this year, thank you!

We had a busy first half of 2024:

Fetes and Feasts!

In June we hosted stands at the Chesterton Festival, and the Waterbeach Feast. Both were lovely sunny days and our team were kept busy talking about what we do - and blowing lots of bubbles from our ever-popular bubble wands! Fetes are great ways for us to connect with our community, thank you all who helped make it happen, and everyone who came to say hi!

A purple gazebo, a branded banner, and branded table are all in CamSight colours. Two people stand under the gazebo with a table of stock between them.

To the left of the picture is a CamSight banner, and in the middle is a table with CamSight produce on it. On the gazebo is a sign reading "P is for pirate" relating to the theme of the event being attended.

Tesco funding:

A big thank you to the Tesco community in March as their community bookstall recently raised £350 for CamSight. Sara went along to collect the cheque from Kelly, the March Hostmoor Avenue Community Champion, in June. Tesco also pledged £2,500 in January as part of the March and Wisbech blue token schemes, so with just under £3,000 recently received from Tesco we want to say a big thank you to everyone in the March and Wisbech areas!

A musical extravaganza:

On the 22nd June the Mawson Road Community Orchestra held a summer Concert to raise funds and awareness for CamSight, playing music from Gounod, Bizet, Tchaikovsky and Mozart. Becky, our Head of Operations, went along to thank MRCO Chair Anna, and the assembled orchestra and guests, on the night. A wonderful £600 was raised on the night with an additional £100 kindly donated by the orchestra themselves, donating £700 overall. Thank you all.

Bands, Bingo and Quizzes:

The Waterbeach community, pioneered by service user Josh and his family, have been supporting CamSight and Waterbeach Military Heritage Museum as their two Charities Of The Year. In July the New Fools band played a charity gig at the Beach Social Club, who have also held a bingo night in April, and a quiz in June too! Thanks so much Josh and everyone who has supported one of these events, you're really making a difference.

And the 2024 Cambridge Half Marathon earlier this year:

Let's not forget the amazing team of runners who ran the Cambs Half Marathon on the 3rd March this year: 9 were members of local restaurant chain Cambscuisine, and of course John who ran his first ever half marathon at the age of 73, ran on our behalf raising £4,017!
