Our dedicated staff fundraisers are Sara and Ella. Sara joined us in April 2024 from a national disability charity, and Ella joined us in July 2024, after finishing her degree.

Sara, Head of Business Development

"Although my job covers several different areas, fundraising is my favourite part. Having grown up in Fenland with a partially sighted parent it is really great to be able to see just how much more support is now available to people with sight loss, and to know that my work helps make that happen.

CamSight has a really lovely team of staff and volunteers, and it's fantastic how everyone comes together to raise the profile of our vital work and helps find funds to support our crucial sight loss services."

Ella, Corporate, Community, and Events Fundraiser

"I love getting out and about to meet our supporters and donors. I can see the difference CamSight makes to those living with low vision and blindness and I'm so happy to be a part of our charity's mission."

We fundraise throughout the year from a variety of sources such as:

  • Applying for grants from Trusts and Foundations (like the National Lottery)
  • Buying entries in challenge events like the Great Eastern Run and the Cambridge Half Marathon
  • Running raffles, tombolas, and our weekly lottery
  • Offering a free, online, basic will writing service to encourage gifts in wills
  • Shopping centre/supermarket bucket collections and asking local businesses to host collection tins
  • Payroll giving, corporate partnerships, and Charity Of The Year/Month partnerships
  • Awareness day fundraising campaigns
  • Providing a variety of ways to make one-off or regular donations

Fundraising is a really varied role and the team is also supported by many volunteers who may help us at events, by making items for us to sell at community fetes or Christmas markets, or who are spreading the word independently.

Thank you to all our fundraisers and donors!
