News and events Looking Good, Feeling Great It may seem an impossible task to apply make-up if you are visually impaired but with practice and a few hints and tips it can be achieved. The key is to be relaxed. I'm 72 years old and have been wearing make-up since I was 14. Despite losing my sight I have continued my daily routine of putting on my face every morning to face the world. I have found new and clever ways of making life easier. If you have some useful sight then invest in a daylight task lamp so you have good natural light. Also invest in a really good quality magnifying mirror, perhaps one with an inbuilt light. You can ask CamSight for advice and a demonstration of low vision equipment, so you can try before you buy. Why not be daring and treat yourself to a pretty new lipstick? Apply on the bottom lip and press lips together. The colour will be evenly spread onto the top lip, so there’s no need for any complicated lip pencils or brushes. My favourite colour lipstick at the moment is Clarins Grenadine - it feels gorgeous and makes me feel confident and good. If you haven’t applied lipstick before, or you need to build up your confidence, try lip gloss or a very light colour. I suggest you seek professional advice for colour matching from your favourite beauty counter. Try Boots or John Lewis, or a shop where a customer advisor can help you. The professionals at the beauty counters are very helpful and friendly, so be brave and go for it! They may even offer to give you a makeover. It’s the simplest, little things that can make all the difference. Have a go! Maz. Manage Cookie Preferences
