Nominate CamSight as Cambridge United’s Next Charity Partner!

Cambridge United is searching for their official Charity Partner for the 2025/26 season, giving a local cause the chance to receive incredible support—including a dedicated matchday, player appearance, and fundraising opportunities throughout the year.

As a charity supporting c.2,000 blind and partially sighted people in Cambridgeshire each year, CamSight is dedicated to making a real difference in people’s lives. With your help, we could be the next partner, ensuring greater awareness, support, and inclusion for those living with sight loss.

If you know how important our work is and want to see Cambridge United champion CamSight, please take a moment to nominate us!

The deadline for submissions is midnight on Monday 16 June, and you can complete the nomination form here: Nominate CamSight To Be The Next Charity Partner

You will be asked to provide your name, email address, our name, and up to 200 words about why you feel we should be chosen. You don't have to write 200 words. Even just a sentence or two will do!

Thank you to everyone who nominates us - each entry helps increase our chances of becoming their charity partner, which will help not only by raising funds but, just as importantly, by raising awareness of how we can help local people living with sight loss.

Not sure what to say?

Don't put off your nomination by thinking it will take a long time, or that you might say the wrong thing! Your couple of sentences could help us become the next charity partner.

Personal stories about us would be great, how about:

  • Telling Cambridge United about when you, or someone you know, first met someone from CamSight, and what we helped you with?

  • Did our Equipment and Accessibility team visit you and advise on lighting, magnification, or even just bump-ons or a liquid level indicator? If so, let them know!

  • Were you, or someone you know, helped by our Support & Advice team to claim over £57,000 of backdated benefits and grants last year? Accessing financial support to meet unavoidable extra costs such as transport, specialist equipment, or assistance at home makes a real difference to our service users lives, and is one of the biggest demands for our help.

  • Are you helped by one of our volunteers? Our volunteer drivers, guides and befrienders are wonderful at what they do, and our volunteering department work hard to provide assistance with drivers, sighted guiding, and befriending matches. Has a volunteer helped you? Share your story with Cambridge United!

  • Have you spoken to one of our Emotional Support counsellors? Only share what you feel comfortable with, but if we have helped you come to terms with your sight loss, or that of a family member, your nomination could help more people like you to find out about this hugely impactful service.

  • Do you go to one of our Peer Support Groups, or activities such as PilatesChair based Exercise, Rowing, any of our Walks, or did you go to one-off events like the Wicken Fen or Babylon Arts projects? Tell Cambridge United what a difference being able to talk to other people who are also visually impaired is, or how great it is to be able to get out and go to these kind of things, made possible by our staff and volunteer drivers and guides!

You could also mention some of the points below:

  • CamSight supports c.2,000 blind and partially sighted people in Cambridgeshire each year.

  • All CamSight's services are offered completely free of charge!

  • CamSight can either call or visit people in their own homes, or attend lots of local events across the county so if travelling is difficult, people who would benefit the most don't miss out.
  • CamSight provides a mix of practical and emotional support, including home visits, befriending, counselling, and assistive technology guidance.

  • CamSight promotes inclusivity through accessible activities and opportunities, helping people with sight loss stay active and engaged in their community.

  • CamSight is a small charity supported by over 100 volunteers.

  • CamSight helps people with sight loss to live as independently as possible.

  • CamSight provides information, advice and relevant links online, and operate a telephone service between 9am to 4pm on weekdays, covering signposting, referrals and information on a range of topics including eye health, welfare benefits, NHS partners and other local services.

  • CamSight's Equipment and Accessibility team carry out comprehensive magnification and lighting assessments and demonstrate a range of other low vision equipment including phones, kitchen aids, clocks, watches and UV protection sunglasses. CamSight can also advise on accessibility features on smart phones, tablets and computers. This is delivered via their mobile service in homes and within the community.

  • CamSight's sight loss counsellors provide emotional support and counselling to service users who are struggling with the emotional impact of their sight loss.

  • CamSight's volunteer befrienders provide companionship and a listening ear, either by phone or accompanying our service users out and about.

Don't want to copy/paste any of the above? You can of course write your own personal nomination - just don't worry about it not being perfect, or saying the wrong thing!

Alternatively you can email them a 30 second video saying why you want to nominate us, click the button to submit here: email [email protected]

Thank you for your support!
